Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly growing in every sector on the worlds industries. And for the drilling and blasting industry it’s not an exception. The technology has the potential to revolutionize the way drilling and blasting operations are performed, from planning to execution. There’s a lot of ways that the artificial intelligence can help and support the drilling and blasting and, in this blog, I will mention a few. 😉
One of the fields that AI can be used is in blast design. Normally the blast design methods rely on trial and error, which can be time consuming and expensive. However, as the world turns attention to AI, new AI-powered software will have the possibility to analyze data from previous blasts and use it to predict the best design for a new blast.
Drones combined with sensors and AI algorithms will collect data on site and provide valuable information about the rock and soil conditions. This information combined with the previous mention AI-Powered software will be a game changer to predict and execute the drilling and blasting operations more efficiently and safely.
AI-powered robots will also start being used in drilling and blasting (). These robots will perform tasks such as drilling, blasting, and loading that are dangerous for humans. Also, one wonderful thing is that these robots can also work in remote and hazardous areas and 25/7 without getting tired, which can increase the efficiency of the operations. Also, the increase of safety aspects and productivity will hugely increase.
AI will also be starting to be used to analyze data from drilling and blasting operations. This data probably will include all information regarding the rock and soil conditions, as well as data on the performance of the drilling and blasting equipment. Afterwards probably AI based algorithms will analyze this data and identify problems and suggest solutions that can improve the efficiency and safety of the operations.
In conclusion, AI will and it’s already having a major impact on the drilling and blasting industry.
By improving safety, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs, this technology has the potential to revolutionize the way that drilling, and blasting is done. As technology continues to advance, it is likely that AI will play an even bigger role in this industry in the future.
As you see, artificial intelligence is starting to appear everywhere and at O-Pitblast we are already looking at these solutions to improve everyday use!
Finally, now you may ask, how’s O-Pitblast implementing AI? 😊
We proudly presented the first assistant in our O-Pitblasting Guide that was developed using OpenAi technology and he’s specialized in mining engineering. 😉 Have you try it out yet?
